Lemon Sevai - லெமன் சேவை - Step by step

Lemon sevai, is nothing but idiyappam ,which is tempered with the spices and added with lemon juice. It makes a variation to the normal idiyappam , which we make at home. We can also make different kind of sevais like coconut sevai, vegetable sevai, tamarind sevai, sweet sevai and curd sevai. Will post the reciepes soon. These kind of sevais are served in our "Tamil marriages". Yeah, there will be variety of food, which are spread on a banana leaf. It ranges from pickles, poriyal, aviyal, kootu, sambar, kara kuzhambu, mor kuzhambu, vatha kuzhambu,3 kind of sweets, these sevais, pappad ,payasam, banana.... It will be fun to watch the spread and indulge. Its been ages, since I visited marriages in India. Waiting for my brother's marriage .

Ingredients:
1.Idiyappam      -         1 cup
2.Lemon juice     -         1 tsp
3.Mustard seeds  -          1/2 tsp
4.Urad dal           -           1/2 tsp
5.Chana dal         -           1/2 tsp
6.Hing                 -            a pinch
7.Curry leaves     -           few
8.Red chillies      -            3
9.Green chillies   -            1
10.Oil                   -            1 tsp
11.Salt                  -            as per taste
12.Turmeric pwdr -           a pinch

Method:
* Cook idiyappam as per the recipe. Cool the idiyappam and shred them .Take a pan, add oil, splutter with hing, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves, red chillies and green chilly. Don't burn the dals, then the sevai will not taste good.

* Now add the turmeric powder. Wait for a second and add the shredded idiyappam to the pan. When the idiyappam is just heated through, add salt and turn off the flame.

* At last , add the lemon juice and mix it real good.If we want, we can also add some fried peanuts to the sevai.

Lemon sevai is ready. We can either serve it as such or serve with chutney or sambar.
